What is the Talent Development Program?
The Talent Development Catalyst program for gifted services is based on consultation and collaboration between the talent development and classroom teachers. They work together to meet the needs of the high achieving students. Sometimes the TD teacher works with a whole group or a small group in the child's classroom or provides the classroom teacher with work for the higher achieving students; at other times the TD teacher can pull out students to work with them directly. The TD teachers works to make sure that the needs of every student are met in the classroom.

Battle of the Books, Lake Norman STEAM tournament, MakerSpace activities, Field Trip, Guest Speakers, Robotics, projects galore! What a busy year :-)
How do we use math in the real world? Fifth graders learned a lot about math in engineering, architecture, and virtual reality during our Rebuilding Kesennuma project!
HES is lucky to have formed a partnership with AREVA Charlotte! We even had a visit from an engineer during Engineering Week to talk to some students about what engineers do and why people choose that career path, plus work on a hands on project with the kids.
Critical and Creative thinking is key to becoming a 21st century citizen. Our 4th graders pushed themselves to grow in both areas during our Toys Through Time project. The learning experience included a trip to display our projects at The Museum of the New South. The HES toys were so impressive we had to choose two winners: Bryce Tiesi with Sensoryster and Cassidy Wade with Barbie Strong.
